We had a pretty small Thanksgiving this year. Googlers Max, Eugene, and Thomas came over. Connie and Clare’s mother Jane were able to make it as well. Clare made a huge, perfect Turkey and we all had a great time. Definitely a great way to start off the holiday season!
Everyone is doing great, so far! Zoe has been smiling up a storm, and is very close to laughing. She’s tried it out a few times so far but hasn’t quite gotten the feel of it. She loves to sit facing outwards so that she can see everyone, but her favorite person is her big brother Liam. She can watch that kid for hours.

The first month with Zoe has been great. My C-section, as promised was easier all around and I feel great! Almost back to normal. My first reaction when I saw my daughter was, wait- why is she so pretty?! I guess I didn’t have any expectations on what she would look like, except that she’d be wrinkly and look like a little monkey. Instead I saw a pretty little pink thing with strawberry blond hair! That was strange, but we considered she may have my sister’s red hair. Josh made my recovery so easy and relaxed, taking care of everything including my favorite breakfasts and midnight feedings of Zoe! I’m so lucky. He can soothe her better than I can, he is so good with her, and just adores having a daughter.
Liam has been an incredible big brother, and loves his sister so much. They snuggle every morning, he says, “Mommy put Zoe on my pillow!” He calms and entertains her, wants to play with her and show her everything, and has genuine concern when she is upset. He is so sweet to her, giving lots of hugs and kisses. No out-of-the-ordinary naughtiness so far!
As for Zoe, she is still sleeping a lot, so that has helped ease me into the transition of having two kids! I am really getting the hang of it, and it’s not as scary as I expected. Of course we’ll see how the coming weeks progress! She is still a very peaceful baby, not a lot of crying or fussing. She can sleep in the bassinet and take a bottle- two things Liam never liked. Zoe’s first checkup went great, gaining weight well etc, although to me she is still the tiniest thing! She is only just starting to fit into some of the 0-3 month clothes- I had to go and buy Newborn sizes when she was born- I wasn’t expecting such a dainty girl! We just love her so much.

Zoe Virginia Burley arrived on September 22nd at 8:06am at a healthy 7 lbs 9 oz. Both mom and daughter are doing great.
Pictures have been posted, covering the first few days. I’ll try and write more later, time to get some sleep while I can!

Here are the ones we’ve taken so far, starting at month 2. We tried to take them all in the same place, but forgot once or twice, but you can see the progression! We’re getting professional ones done next week, so they’ll be up soon.
I’m finally starting to get pretty run down, tired, uncomfortable. Counting down but still 6 1/2 more weeks to go! September 22nd is our C-section date but I have a feeling she’ll come early like Liam did! (well, fingers crossed)

Liam turned 3 years old on June 2nd. He had a great big Transformers birthday party with tons of friends, and then we went to Disneyland the day of his bday and he got his own annual pass which he’s very proud of!
He’s talking non-stop and is so excited for his baby sister to get here. He’s given her some of his stuffed animals and toys, and has been telling me all the jobs that will be his, like feeding her, bathing her, and even changing her diapers. Sounds like I won’t have too much to do!
Preschool is out for the summer and so he started swim class with Daddy and then a gym class this week too. He loves both so much. It’s been so hot that we’ve been in the pool alot so swimming is a current favorite activity.
He’s such a big boy! Photos Here.

I just wanted to tell everyone how proud I am of my wonderful husband. He just got a well-deserved promotion at work, and is now “Senior” Software Engineer at Google! I sneaked a peek at his performance evaluation which is not only written by his boss but by his peers also. The things they said were so incredible, everyone genuinely respects, admires and values his expertise. I even got teary-eyed a couple of times because the comments they made are so awesome! Congratulations Josh… I love you so much!!

We had our big ultrasound today and it showed that we are having a girl! We suspected it would be from an ultrasound my doctor did a couple of weeks ago, but the picture was kinda dark. But today’s pictures were pretty clear- we saw everything we needed to! and all looks healthy.
The ultrasound was SO long- it took two hours since we had an “Intern” ultrasound technician. As soon as we thought we were done, the real tech came in and took all the pictures over again, just to be sure! I was getting tired and a bit uncomfortable lying flat on my back for that long, but it was nice to watch the baby for so long. Josh had come with me, and thankfully he was able to pick up Liam from preschool- I had assumed I’d be able to get him in time, with no problem, I hadn’t foreseen the delay.
Here are some new photos of the baby, they’re ok, but it was more fun to see her bopping around in there the whole time. She sure didn’t like being poked about! She has been so active the last week, even Josh can feel her kicking and wiggling now! It’s so cute you can tell she is still pretty tiny, but she’s kicking and punching hard.
Oh boy, we’re going to have to learn all over again- I have no idea what to do with a girl! or how to dress her for that matter…
Due date (or, C-section date) is still September 21st.

We had an ultrasound this week and got some great early pictures of the new baby! Here they are.
We didn’t get to find out the gender but we were assured all looks very healthy. He or she was bopping around in there like crazy, and I’m starting to feel it more and more. We are so excited!

My husband bought me a car for my birthday- unbelievable!!!! I’ve never been so surprised in my entire life, oh wait, except when he proposed to me, that was an even awesome-r surprise
We had been looking at minivans (yes, I’m ready for it) and had narrowed it down, but I thought we weren’t getting it for months! Josh surprised me with the nicest one with all the fancy trimmings like Leather, DVD and Navigation! SOOO COOL! It’s a Honda Odyssey EXL, Slate color. I can’t believe he went through all the trouble to do that- I felt like I was in a movie! Let’s hope I don’t smash this one like I did my last new car, argh…
Here’s photos of my beautiful car!

We are expecting our second baby! It’s still early, but we’ve seen a heartbeat so things are looking good. The due date is not until the end of September though! So I’m only 2 months right now. I feel great, no morning sickness or fatigue (yet!), like I had last time. I’m craving fruit and Ranch dressing, but not together
Liam is so excited to be a big brother. He has already offered most of his precious toys to the baby, even the pirates and dinosaurs! He says the baby can sleep on his pillow, also another closely guarded item. He’s been asking for a baby sister even before we got pregnant. We can’t decide what would be more fun- a little girl, something new, or another boy, a brother for Liam to sword fight with
I will post again soon with any updates…
